Invasions of phytophagous insects in Central Europe
Rejmanová, Aneta ; Špryňar, Pavel (advisor) ; Koubek, Tomáš (referee)
This Bachelor thesis is meant as a literature search concerned with invasions of phytophagous insects in Central Europe (mainly in the Czech Republic). I have summarized the findings from Czech and foreign studies dealing with this issue. Biological invasions are now a significant phenomenon. About 400 species of non-native insects occur in the Czech Republic, of which about half are phytophagous insects. In my Bachelor thesis I dealt with terminology that related to this subjekt, some more general regularities in the relationship of plants and insects, the primary areas of non-native insects, their pathways and their impact. I also chose few well-known representatives for better ilustration and I trying to find out, which plants non-native insect attacks the most. Key words: alien insects, phytophagous, plant, invasive
Expulsion of Aliens on National Security Grounds in the Context of International and European law
Válková, Zuzana ; Ondřej, Jan (referee) ; Honusková, Věra (referee)
This study deals with the expulsion of aliens in modern international and European law. I have focused on the particular ground for the expulsion, i. e. national security, in the context of the States' obligations under some selected international human rights instruments and the relevant European law. National security is one of the generally accepted grounds for the expulsion of aliens, but the content of this term is not strictly defined. As a consequence of this lack of clarity national security may be abused by States. I focused on such abuse in the process of expulsion when States use the exception of national security as a reason for not allowing aliens to benefit from the procedural guarantees provided by international law. There have been two kinds of abuse of the national security term with respect to the procedural rights of the expelled persons found in this study. First, States expel aliens forthwith without giving them the opportunity to submit reasons against their expulsion or have their case reviewed by a competent authority also in cases when the exception of national security is indefensible. Second, the national security interest restricts the effectiveness of the appeal proceedings in cases when the domestic legislative does not permit the expelled persons to be informed about...

Kolaříková, Gabriela ; Honusková, Věra (advisor) ; Hýbnerová, Stanislava (referee)
Expulsion under international law - Abstract The purpose of my thesis is to analyze legislation of expulsion under international public law and comparison with draft articles of United Nation International Law Commission, that works on the topic for several years. The main aim of the thesis is to investigate if contemporary international legislation on expulsion provides protection of human rights of the aliens or if it prefers the state's right to expel the alien and compare today situation with work of UN International Law Commission that might result in a new international treaty in the future. The thesis is composed of eight chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of the expulsion. Each chapter contains a partial conclusion. Chapter One is introductory and describes the research question and explains content of next chapters. Chapter Two defines used methodology and used literature. Chapter Three is subdivided into five parts. First two parts describe a right of a state to expel an alien and its development. Part Three deals with limits of the right to expel, mainly describes human right that can be affected by expulsion. Part Four focuses on definition of target country of the expulsion and part Five focuses on a definition of an alien. Chapter Four defines basic terminology used in the...
A Stranger of the House - the Crossroads III
Mlynářová, J. ; Kilani, M. ; Alivernini, Sergio
The Crossroads III – A Stranger in the House. Foreigners in Ancient Egyptian and Near Eastern Societies of the Bronze Age conference has been held at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (Prague) between September 10 and 13, 2018. The main objective of the conference was to enhance our understanding of “foreignness” in ancient societies between the end of the Chalcolithic period and the end of the Late Bronze Age. This book collects some of the twenty most significant contributions presented at the conference. Some authors decided to approach the discussion from a theoretical perspective, or to present and discuss theoretical frameworks that could be used to explore at least some elements underlying the concept of “foreignness”. Others investigated sociocultural dimension involved in the presence of foreigners, or in their interactions with local communities. Cases from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, and the Levant, covering the whole of the Bronze Age have been discussed. The wide range of perspectives, and their combination within the frame of the conference often stimulated that multidisciplinary dialogue that was the primary aim of this third edition of Crossroads
